“Team USA Night is a celebration of Minnesota’s enormous impact on the success of U.S. hockey at every level,” said Minnesota Wild Chief Executive Officer Matt Majka. “From the 1960 and 1980 Olympic gold medal teams to today’s World Junior champions, Minnesota has been at the heart of Team USA’s story — and that pride will be on full display.”
Among the most anticipated moments is the ceremonial “Let’s Play Hockey” call, delivered by a multigenerational roster of Team USA standouts:
- Dave Brooks, 1964 U.S. Olympian
- Mike “Lefty” Curran, 1972 U.S. Olympian
- John Harrington, member of the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” team and 1984 Olympian
- Mark Parrish, 2006 Olympian and two-time U.S. World Junior team member
- Natalie Darwitz, three-time Olympian, two-time silver medalist, and Hockey Hall of Fame inductee
- Max Plante, 2025 U.S. National Junior Team gold medalist and Minnesota Duluth forward
Spotlight on the 2026 World Juniors
Team USA Night also doubles as a promotional platform for the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, which Minnesota will host from Dec. 26, 2025, through Jan. 5, 2026. Games will be played at Grand Casino Arena in Saint Paul and 3M Arena at Mariucci in Minneapolis, with additional pre-tournament exhibition games held in Bemidji, Duluth, Mankato, and Rochester.
Beyond the rink, fans will be able to experience the free Bold North Breakaway Fan Fest, offering interactive hockey activities, entertainment, and family-friendly programming throughout the tournament. Tickets for the event, including single-game and packaged options, are available at WorldJuniorsMN26.com.

Outlook
The celebration occurs at a moment when the broader American sports ecosystem—including hockey—is increasingly intertwined with the rise of iGaming and regulated sports wagering.
In recent years, the U.S. has seen rapid expansion of legalized online gaming and sports betting, driven by state-by-state regulatory changes following the 2018 Supreme Court decision to overturn PASPA. Professional leagues, teams, and event organizers have responded by forming partnerships with sportsbooks, integrating responsible-gaming messaging, and leveraging digital engagement tools that mirror global trends long established in European markets.
While hockey’s footprint within iGaming has historically been smaller than that of football or basketball, major events such as the IIHF World Junior Championship and the Olympic Winter Games have become key drivers of fan engagement in regions where regulated wagering is permitted. Minnesota, though not a state with legalized online sports betting as of 2025, continues to see increased interest in digital fan-experience platforms, data-driven coverage, and interactive entertainment aligned with broader U.S. trends.
Events like Team USA Night, which merge community pride with major international tournaments, reflect the evolving relationship between American sports culture and the expanding digital gaming economy—one that continues to shape how fans connect with teams and events across the country.
