Caesars Virginia Prepares for Grand Opening in Danville

Caesars Virginia, the highly anticipated $750 million casino resort, is set to open its doors in Danville on December 12, marking a significant milestone for the region. The resort’s luxury hotel, featuring 320 rooms, is now accepting reservations for stays beginning December 13. This development is expected to elevate Danville’s status as a destination for entertainment and leisure, drawing visitors from across the state and beyond. The grand opening reflects years of planning, collaboration, and strong community support for a project envisioned to revitalize the local economy.

This ambitious venture is a collaboration between Caesars Entertainment, EBCI Holdings, and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. The project gained momentum in 2020 when Virginia legislators passed a bill allowing casino development in Danville, later signed into law by then-Governor Ralph Northam. The proposal was subsequently brought to the public for approval through a citywide referendum, where nearly 69% of Danville voters expressed their support. This overwhelming endorsement underscored the community’s enthusiasm for the economic opportunities and entertainment options the casino promises to bring.

 

Resort Features and Amenities

Caesars Virginia aims to set a new standard for luxury and entertainment in the region, boasting a wide array of attractions. The resort will feature 1,400 slot machines, a World Series of Poker-branded poker room, 80 table games, and a state-of-the-art sportsbook, catering to a variety of gaming enthusiasts. For live entertainment, a 2,500-seat venue will host performances and events, adding to the resort’s appeal. Guests can also indulge in full-service spa treatments, providing a touch of relaxation amid the vibrant atmosphere.

Dining options at Caesars Virginia promise to be equally impressive. The resort will house Ramsay’s Kitchen, a culinary experience crafted by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, alongside multiple restaurants, lounges, and bars. Additionally, the property integrates seamlessly into the Caesars Rewards program, allowing guests to earn and redeem credits at over 50 destinations nationwide, including through online platforms in various states.

The resort will replace a temporary casino that began operations in May 2023, which has already made significant contributions to the local economy, generating over $66 million in gaming taxes for the city and state. Regional president for Caesars Entertainment, Barron Fuller, highlighted the broader vision for the project in a press release: “We have worked diligently on creating a world-class resort that will serve as an economic driver for Danville and the surrounding region through employment and tourism. A Growing Casino Industry in Virginia

Caesars Virginia will be the third permanent casino to open in the state, joining Rivers Casino Portsmouth, which opened in January 2023, and the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol, which launched in November 2024. Virginia’s casino landscape continues to expand, with a fourth project underway in Norfolk and another recently approved in Petersburg, led by The Cordish Companies. These developments signal a broader trend of growth in Virginia’s gaming and hospitality sector, positioning the state as a rising player in the casino industry.
