Fanatics Enters Wyoming’s Sports Betting Market

Fanatics, a major player in the sports betting industry, has recently expanded its reach to Wyoming, marking the 21st state where the company has launched its mobile sportsbook. This move follows the successful nationwide integration of PointsBet gambling platforms and the debut of Fanatics' online casino in New Jersey.

“Now that we have finished the migration of PointsBet states, Wyoming is a standalone market for the Fanatics Sportsbook to enter,” said Kevin Hennessy, Fanatics Vice President of Communications, in an interview with PlayUSA. “We love going into a new market and giving sports fans a distinct alternative to the status quo.”

Wyoming’s sports betting market, though one of the smallest in the country, is highly competitive. Fanatics joins a landscape dominated by top-tier sportsbooks including FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars, and BetMGM, with ESPN Bet poised to launch soon. Despite the intense competition, Hennessy expressed confidence in Fanatics’ ability to carve out a significant market share by leveraging user-friendly features.

The Fanatics sportsbook app boasts three key features designed to enhance the customer experience: a search tool, a Discover page, and a rewards/loyalty program. The search tool aims to streamline the process of finding promotions, bets, and trending topics, addressing a common pain point where users have to scroll through extensive lists of markets. The Discover page, which serves as the app’s homepage, curates popular bets and tailors recommendations based on the user's betting habits. The rewards program offers up to 5% back in FanCash, which can be used for bonus bets or purchasing merchandise through Fanatics.com.

“A customer can place a bet on their favorite team and buy a jersey with FanCash all in one place,” Hennessy highlighted, emphasizing the integrated experience that Fanatics aims to provide.

While Wyoming currently does not permit online casinos, Fanatics is open to the possibility should the legal landscape change. The state legislature recently considered a bill to legalize online casinos, introduced by Rep. Robert Davis, but it did not advance. Nonetheless, the interest in iGaming persists, and Hennessy noted that Fanatics is prepared to explore this avenue if legislation is passed.

 

“We are really excited about how Fanatics Casino is performing in New Jersey, Michigan, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania,” Hennessy said. “But specifically to Wyoming, any plans are contingent on what happens in the state legislature.”
