Las Vegas cemented its status as a global live-entertainment capital in 2025, with multiple sports and entertainment venues topping Billboard’s annual list of the world’s highest-grossing locations. The rankings highlight a defining feature of the Las Vegas market: venues that generate outsized revenue despite hosting fewer events and drawing fewer attendees than counterparts in larger metropolitan areas.

Billboard’s data points to two primary drivers behind that performance. Tourists travel to Las Vegas specifically for concerts, residencies and major sporting events, and ticket prices in the city remain among the highest in the world. Together, those factors allow Las Vegas venues to “punch above their weight” in revenue terms.

Allegiant Stadium leads US stadiums again

Allegiant Stadium repeated as the highest-grossing stadium in the United States, according to Billboard. In 2025, the venue generated $269.4 million in ticket sales from 21 events, drawing a combined 950,000 attendees. That total placed Allegiant second globally, behind Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros, which grossed $299.2 million from 57 shows and more than 3.2 million attendees. Allegiant outperformed major US stadiums such as MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, despite hosting far fewer events.

Best known as the home of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, Allegiant Stadium has increasingly positioned itself as a multipurpose destination for marquee events. In 2025, its calendar included concerts by Beyoncé, Post Malone, Coldplay, AC/DC and Kendrick Lamar, as well as WrestleMania, neutral-site college football games and international soccer matches.

One of the year’s most notable events was a boxing match between Canelo Alvarez and Bud Crawford, which drew more than 86,000 fans. According to event data, 85% of attendees traveled from outside Nevada, and 96% said the fight was their primary reason for visiting Las Vegas.

While that event was an outlier in scale, tourism consistently underpins Allegiant Stadium’s success. More than half of attendees typically come from out of state, and for some events that figure exceeds 80%. Casino operators have repeatedly cited major sports and concert weekends as catalysts for higher room rates and increased gaming and non-gaming revenue.

Sphere emerged as the world’s highest-grossing arena, overtaking long-established venues such as London’s O2 Arena and New York’s Madison Square Garden. Billboard reported that Sphere generated $370.3 million in ticket revenue in 2025, hosting 105 shows and attracting approximately 1.2 million visitors.

With a capacity of more than 15,000, Sphere occupies a unique space between traditional arenas and theaters. Its programming is dominated by immersive films and high-end concert residencies rather than sports, although it has hosted a UFC event.

Sphere’s revenue performance is closely tied to its pricing model and its technological novelty. There are no low-cost ticket options. Tickets for its four-dimensional reinterpretation of *The Wizard of Oz* begin above $120 before fees, while concert tickets for acts such as the Backstreet Boys can exceed $1,000. Even electronic dance music shows often sell for more than $300 per seat.

That exclusivity has fueled demand, but some analysts note potential long-term risks. Sphere’s parent company is expanding the concept, with a venue under construction in Dubai and another planned near MGM National Harbor in Maryland. Those additions could reduce the need for some East Coast travelers to make a dedicated trip to Las Vegas for the experience.

Casino theaters outperform peers

Smaller Las Vegas casino theaters also ranked at the top of their respective categories. The Colosseum at Caesars Palace was Billboard’s highest-grossing theater among venues with capacities between 2,501 and 5,000 seats, generating $66.4 million from just 64 shows. By comparison, the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, the runner-up, hosted 179 shows but earned less revenue.

Originally built for Celine Dion’s residency, the Colosseum hosted a mix of music and comedy in 2025, including residencies by Jerry Seinfeld, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton.

The Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas ranked second among venues with capacities of 2,500 or fewer. Its 116 shows were half the total hosted by Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, which led the category. Wynn’s programming leaned heavily toward high-profile comedians, while also hosting arena-level performers such as Nate Bargatze and Sebastian Maniscalco in a more intimate setting.

Outlook

Las Vegas welcomed 38.5 million visitors in 2025, a modest decline attributed to shifting international travel patterns and broader economic pressures. Even so, industry executives continue to emphasize that high-profile events remain central to their business strategies.

The 2026 event calendar features major artists across genres, from country and pop to heavy metal, many of whom are offering Las Vegas–exclusive residencies or limited engagements. MGM Resorts benefits directly from Allegiant Stadium and T-Mobile Arena, while Wynn is physically connected to Sphere via a pedestrian walkway, reinforcing the integration between venues and resorts.

As long as Las Vegas continues to pair unique venues with destination-driven programming, analysts expect the city to remain overrepresented atop global revenue rankings, even as attendance trails larger markets.
