Caesars Launches Horseshoe Online Casino in Pennsylvania

Caesars Entertainment has expanded its digital portfolio with the launch of the Horseshoe Online Casino in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, marking a significant step in its strategy to establish a robust online gaming presence across the United States. The launches took place this week, following the casino's debut in Michigan just weeks prior.
The Horseshoe Online Casino officially launched in Pennsylvania on October 27, 2023, becoming the state’s 23rd online casino. This was quickly followed by its launch in West Virginia, which increased the number of online operators in the state to ten. Prior to these expansions, Caesars had already introduced the Horseshoe brand in Michigan on October 3, 2023.
Matt Sunderland, Senior Vice President and Chief iGaming Officer of Caesars Digital, emphasized the brand's commitment to customer-centric gaming. “The Horseshoe brand is anchored by a promise to put the player first. A brand with such a storied past deserves an online equivalent that pays respect to the legacy it has established in gaming,” he stated in a press release.
The New Addition
The addition of Horseshoe Online Casino to Pennsylvania’s online market is significant, especially given the state's position as one of the leading online casino markets in the U.S., alongside New Jersey and Michigan. Customers can access approximately 700 slot games and 14 live dealer rooms, including popular games such as blackjack, roulette, and craps. Existing Caesars customers can easily transition to the Horseshoe platform by logging in with their current username and password, while maintaining a separate wallet.
In West Virginia, the Horseshoe Casino represents the third online gaming brand from Caesars, joining established operators like DraftKings, BetMGM, and FanDuel. This expansion aligns with the state's growing online gaming market, which now features a diverse array of options for players.
Despite the positive outlook for the Horseshoe brand, Caesars Digital President Eric Hession has tempered expectations, indicating that while Horseshoe is a strong brand, the Caesars Palace Online Casino is expected to remain the flagship product. In a recent earnings report, he noted that the Horseshoe brand, which is newer to the market, may not immediately capture the same market share as its predecessor.

The Future
Caesars Digital has experienced mixed financial results in its recent quarterly report, with overall net revenue declining to $2.8 billion, down from $3 billion in the same quarter last year. However, the digital segment, bolstered by the iGaming sector, reported a substantial increase in revenue, climbing to $303 million from $215 million during the previous year, largely attributed to the successful launch of the Horseshoe brand in Michigan.
Looking ahead, Caesars plans to roll out the Horseshoe Online Casino in New Jersey and Ontario before the end of the year, further solidifying its footprint in the online gaming landscape across North America.
