Pennsylvania’s regulated gambling market generated $590.6 million in total revenue in January, an increase of 11.6% compared with the same month last year, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. The figure fell 4.2% short of December 2025, indicating a pullback after the year-end peak but continued annual growth across most verticals.

Sports betting recorded the highest year-on-year growth rate among major segments. Revenue rose 38.6% to $71.4 million. The gain, while substantial, was below December’s 287.8% surge and represented a 15.8% month-on-month decline. Online wagering accounted for $67.6 million of January revenue, compared with $3.8 million from retail sportsbooks. Total handle reached $782.4 million, down 10.4% from a year earlier. The statewide hold stood at 9.13%.

At the operator level, FanDuel, partnered with Valley Forge Casino Resort, retained the leading position with $27.7 million in revenue from a $276.3 million handle, reflecting a 10.03% hold. DraftKings, operating with Hollywood Casino at the Meadows, ranked second with $22.7 million from $235.8 million in wagers, a 9.63% hold. Hollywood Casino York and Fanatics Sportsbook placed third, generating $5.6 million from a $56.3 million handle for a 9.95% hold. The data suggest that while betting volumes eased year-on-year, operators maintained relatively stable margins.

iGaming growth continues but misses December record

Online casino revenue reached $249.3 million in January, up 18.6% year-on-year. The total was 4% lower than December’s record $259.7 million, signaling a moderation after the holiday-driven high.

Online slots remained the largest single source of gambling revenue in the state, producing $194.8 million, up 22.8% from January 2025. Internet table games generated $52 million, an increase of 6.2%. Online poker was the only iGaming vertical to decline, slipping 3.6% to $2.5 million. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course and its online partners led the iGaming market with $96.2 million in revenue. Valley Forge Casino Resort and partners followed with $67.2 million, while Rivers Casino Philadelphia placed third at $40.1 million.

The figures indicate that slots continue to drive digital growth, while poker remains comparatively stagnant. Revenue from physical casinos increased modestly. Retail slot machines generated $189.1 million, up 0.7% year-on-year. Table games brought in $75.8 million, a 2.8% increase. Video gaming terminals at truck stops produced $3.2 million, up 0.6%. In contrast, fantasy contests revenue fell 29.9% to $1.9 million, marking one of the few areas of decline alongside online poker.

Pennsylvania’s January results show sustained year-on-year growth driven by iGaming and sports betting, even as overall revenue eased from December’s record high.

Tax contributions

iGaming generated the largest share of tax revenue in January at $113.9 million. Retail slots followed at $95.6 million. Sports betting contributed $25.7 million in tax, while physical table games generated $12.8 million. Overall, January’s results reflect continued structural growth in Pennsylvania’s online gambling market, offset by seasonal softening after December’s peak and ongoing weakness in niche segments such as poker and fantasy contests.
