While gambling measures have stalled, fiscal legislation backed by Gov. Josh Green remains active. Bills seeking to cancel the next five scheduled income tax cuts — HB 2306 and SB 3125 — have been referred to House Finance and Senate Ways and Means, the chambers’ principal budget committees.

Separate measures, HB 2280 and SB 3099, would authorize withdrawals from the state’s roughly $1.8 billion Emergency and Budget Reserve Fund, commonly referred to as the rainy-day fund. Those proposals have also been routed to money committees for further consideration.

The referral of these measures signals that lawmakers are prioritizing fiscal flexibility amid ongoing budget pressures. Many other surviving bills — addressing issues ranging from charter school meal access to pedestrian safety and restrictions on face coverings for federal immigration enforcement officers — likewise await decisions in finance committees before the session concludes.
