Online gambling revenue in Michigan reached $356.3 million in January, up 7.6% from a year earlier, according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board. The total marked a year-on-year gain but represented a 10.9% decline from December. Growth was driven by the online casino segment, while sports betting posted a sharp drop.

Gross iGaming receipts totaled $298.3 million, an increase of 20.2% compared with January 2025. In contrast, online sports betting gross receipts fell 30.1% to $58 million. reached $323.3 million, up 12.3% from the previous year. Adjusted iCasino receipts rose 22.8% to $286.3 million. Adjusted sports betting revenue declined 32.5% to $37 million.

Online sportsbook customers wagered $491.3 million during the month, an 11.5% decrease in handle. Based on gross receipts, the statewide hold was 11.8%. On an adjusted basis, hold was 7.53%.

FanDuel and MotorCity Lead Market

FanDuel and its partner MotorCity Casino maintained their lead across both online casino and sports betting. In iCasino, the partnership generated $73.3 million in gross receipts and $70.4 million in adjusted receipts. BetMGM and MGM Resorts International ranked second with $65.8 million in gross receipts and $63.2 million in adjusted revenue. DraftKings and the Bay Mills Indian Community placed third with $45.5 million in gross receipts and $43.7 million adjusted.

In online sports betting, FanDuel and MotorCity posted $22.8 million in gross receipts and $14.6 million in adjusted revenue. With a handle of $168.3 million, the partnership recorded a 13.47% hold. DraftKings and Bay Mills ranked second with $16.2 million in gross receipts and $11.6 million in adjusted revenue from a $144.8 million handle, producing an 11.19% hold. MGM and BetMGM were third, reporting $8.1 million in gross receipts and $4.8 million in adjusted revenue. Their $61.1 million handle resulted in a 13.26% hold.

Tax Contributions

Operators paid $57.1 million in taxes and payments to the state during January 2025. Detroit’s three commercial casinos paid $13.9 million to the city. Combined revenue at Detroit’s three casinos reached $103.9 million in January. Table games and slot revenue rose 0.8% year-on-year to $103.1 million. Qualified adjusted gross receipts from retail sports betting fell 69.5% to $789,669.

MGM Grand Detroit led the Detroit market with a 49% share, followed by MotorCity Casino at 30%. Hollywood Casino at Greektown held a 21% share. The January figures highlight continued strength in Michigan’s online casino sector, offsetting weaker sports betting results and a seasonal decline in wagering volume.
